Q: How easy are the shelters to set up?
A: Our shelters are quite simple and designed for the average person to set up. You will need some basic tools and someone to help you. Extra help for pulling the fabric over the frame will make things easier. Shelter assembly instructions are provided on the Assembly page as well as some helpful hints and additional product information.
Q: Can I have someone set up my Instant Shelter?
A: Subject to our shop schedule, setting your shelter up in the Kootenay's for an additional charge is generally not a problem. In other areas your local handy man should be able to set the shelter up without any problems. We are always a phone call away if you have a question. Shelter assembly instructions are provided on the Assembly page as well as some helpful hints and additional product information.
Q: Are your shelters suitable for use as a garage for my car or truck?
A: Definitely, they make great portable garages and prove to be very economical when compared with the price of a wood, concrete or steel garage.
Q: What colours are available?
A: White, green, grey, tan or translucent, or any combination of those colours.
Q: Is snow load a problem?
A: Generally not. The type of fabric used has the ability to shed the snow and generally does not build up enough to be a concern. Add to that our welded corner gusset and our shelters do well in the snow. At times of high build up, snow can be removed by using a broom/leaf rake from the outside of the shelter and gently pulling the snow off. Additional bracing can be added if you are in a high snow load area.
Q: Is wind a problem?
A: Generally not. In high wind areas, building should be placed with prevailing wind on back or side. During wind storms, the zippers on the doors should be kept closed. Additional bracing can be added to your custom portable garage if wind is a concern in your area.
Q: Do anchors come with the buildings?
A: Yes. The duck-bill anchor system is used and the recommended number of anchors are supplied with each portable garage. Additional anchors can be easily purchased.
Q: Is condensation a problem?
A: In areas where there is a high amount of moisture content in the ground, a vent is recommended. If you are building on a gravel bed, we recommend that you lay vapour barrier under the top layer of gravel to stop the moisture from coming up through the ground.
Q: Does my insurance cover the contents?
A: Normal household insurance should cover the building and the contents. However, check with your insurance company for details about your specific policy.
